Nick was pushed into his first wave by former world surfing champion Fred Hemmings when he was around 5 or 6, and has been in love with the ocean ever since. He has been sponsored by a few companies over the years and is very experienced. Nick won a surf contest in Chile in 2003 and has appeared in a surf video put out by Ladera skateboards.

Surfing has dictated the direction of his life since "grommet-hood." Nick studied at UC Santa Cruz because of the school's proximity to quality surf. Nick also studied linguistics in Chile because the country is known for its long, empty waves.

Nick took a year off and lived in Tahiti in order to improve his French, and surf powerful Polynesian barrels. He teaches and translates languages online because he can't bear to miss good waves working a 9-5 job. Fluent in Spanish, French, and Portuguese, Nick frequently gives surf lessons in these languages.

Nick surfs daily and has taught countless friends and friends of friends and their friends too over the years. He almost always manages to get them up and riding the very first time they go out.
